To set the scene for 2017 and 2018, here is a short clip of Martin riding the circuit of Silverstone on his Honda Fireblade CBR1000RR
With more than 60 years of history Silverstone has become one of the most prestigious venues dedicated to motorsport. Completely revamped in recent years, a multimillion pound investment saw the completion in 2010 of a first phase of works to greatly improve the venue, making it one of the fastest tracks on the MotoGP calendar and earning high praise from the riders who enjoyed the new layout. The ‘Silverstone Wing’, a state-of-the-art, multi-million pound complex, became a new landmark at the circuit from 2011, thus adding to already breathtaking facilities at Silverstone.
The circuit is 3.67 (5.9km) miles long and has 8 left corners and 10 right. The current lap record for MotoGP is 2.00.234 set in 2015. In October 2016 Martin’s best lap around the full MotoGP circuit was 2.45, so he has a ways to go before setting the world alight.
As part of the Delta Energy Services 30 year celebrations, Martin will take his revamped Fireblade back to Silverstone to try and better his time. Reports and pictures to follow
